Mary Whittier is a nonprofit consultant and community volunteer.  She is a Foundation Board member of Mary Cariola Center, and a volunteer/thought partner with The HUB 585, Inc. 

Mary has done part time consulting (and volunteering) on issues related to nonprofits in the areas of leadership, Board development/engagement, strategic planning, program development, philanthropy and community relations after leaving Bivona Child Advocacy Center in May 2017.  She has worked with organizations such as Best Self Behavioral Health in Buffalo, Monroe County Department of Human Services, PrimeTime585, The Hub585, and Allendale Columbia School to name a few.

Mary was the Interim CEO for RESOLVE of Greater Rochester, Inc. from January 2020 through July 2021. 

RESOLVE was a nonprofit organization that provided therapeutic counseling services to those living with or healing from Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence (DV/IPV).  RESOLVE also provided professional training to medical and behavioral health professionals, NFPs, local businesses, faith-based organizations and the larger community.  During her time at RESOLVE, she successfully merged the agency with Willow Domestic Violence Center (Willow) in the Summer of 2021.

Mary was the Founding Executive Director of Bivona Child Advocacy Center (Bivona), and held that position from December of 2001 thru May 2017.  Bivona is a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive services to children suspected of being sexually or physically abused or fatally injured as a result of abuse and neglect.  Bivona partners with 22 community agencies that assist in the investigation, evaluation, treatment and prevention of child abuse.  Under Mary’s leadership, Bivona evaluated over 22,000 children since it opened for services on August 1, 2004 and grew their operating budget from $181,000 to 2.1M during that time.

Mary has received numerous awards and recognition for her work with at risk children and families over the last 35 years.  She previously served on the Boards of PrimeTime585, NYSCA, RPD Foundation, and NCMEC/NY.  She is married with two children.
